Six weeks have gone quickly. Every week sees new growth physically and mentally in the babies. Experiences that added to their development this week have been the baths, dryer and trimming. They are also enjoying jumping out of their pen and running around the kitchen. Even though the weather has been cold they like a brief time outside – especially when Mommy is out with them.
At the end of December 2022, Burrito completed his Grand Champion Bronze award at the Clark County dog show in Ridgefield, Washington. Burrito was shown by Cheyenne Calvert and Tasheena Housman, but without the help of Torie and Jan getting the Bronze Championship wouldn’t have happened.Elijah, CH Absolutely Bringing A Higher Love, had a great weekend at the 2023 Western Washington Winter Cluster receiving Select Dog and Best Owner Handler in Breed all three days of shows. On Saturday, Elijah was awarded a Group 4 in the Owner Handler group. Good job Jan and Elijah!! So proud of you both.Jerry and Belle had a great weekend in January in Surprise, Arizona. Saturday Belle was Reserve Winner and on Sunday Belle was Winner’s Bitch for a 4 point major. Belle is now only 1 point away from her AKC championship. Way to go Jerry and Belle–awesome job! In January, Dina and little Dale flew to Arizona to visit family and friends and while in Arizona attended the dog show in Surprise, Arizona on Saturday. Dale was entered in the Beginner Puppy class (4 – 6 months) and managed to get a beautiful Group 3 ribbon and a fun babble ball. At the time of the show Dale was 4 months and 2 days old–and had a great time. So glad this little guy is fearless and enjoys everything!!! Looking forward to seeing Dale and Dina in the ring–this was only the beginning.
The puppies are getting used to new (and sometimes irritating things) Collars were introduced this week to get them used to having something around their neck. Protests ranged from mild to loud! I have begun brushing them…not a problem. I am also rubbing their feet, hoping to desensitize the foot sensitivity we sometimes see in Bichons. This Saturday they will get to try more new things as friends are coming to help me bathe, dry and trim.
This week I see the puppies becoming more attuned to the human world. They had some visitors and responded well to them. Their personalities are developing and it’s fun to observe which pup is the first to try something new, which pup is a clown, which pup may seem timid. The interesting thing is that what one pup displays this week can change completely by next week. They have moved into the main part of the house, in a much larger area and around the other Bichons.
Lucky #7, our last born did not make it onto the three week old blog. So he gets a blog all to himself.
The puppies are three weeks old today. Their eyes are open and they can hear. I purposely slam drawers, turn on my hair dryer and make other noises so they won’t be startled by other sounds. They are interacting with each other and with their toys.
We have puppies! Lots of puppies. Gloria delivered SEVEN beautiful puppies on January 4. That makes them two weeks old today. In the pictures you will notice that some have eyes open, some eyes are barely open, some eyes are still closed. They develop differently. By next week the eyes should all be open and we hope the noses are all black. Did I mention that out of the seven there is only one girl?
The first three pictures are our big boys: all over 1 lb.
