Another big week for Sassy–playing and running in the grass dog yard, meeting new people and dogs and having a full bath and getting blown dry with the hair dryer–she did well and I’m only slightly drenched! Now after the bath Sassy needs a hair cut–so hopefully this afternoon the clippers will come out and she’ll get a trim. Thursday evening Sassy will get to go to Puppy Pre-School and hopefully get to play with other little puppies and socialize–something she is missing being a singleton puppy.
Week 7 brought a trip to see Dr. Stanfield and the first set of puppy shots. Sassy had a physical exam and didn’t particularly like the shot–she also got the intranasal bordetella which she really didn’t like–but has to have when she goes to puppy preschool and has a chance to play with other small puppies–she likes to play with mother Poppy (and she is hard on Poppy’s coat), but she also needs to learn to play with other dogs–unfortunately she isn’t allowed in preschool until she is 9 weeks old, so we have another week and a half to go.Since the weather was sunny and warm today Sassy had a big run in the grass dog yard–and that’s all she did was RUN. This little girl is full of energy and really loves to be outside–now if the weather would just cooperate she’ll be able to get outside more and more. Sassy likes to be outside with the rest of the “pack” and the big dogs are really very good with her–with the exception of Buzz–he is just to young and to much puppy–not gentle enough with Sassy and just “bowls” her over.
Sassy has had a big week of new adventures–the last 2 days with the nice spring-like weather she had been introduced to the great outdoors–and LOVES to be outside. Because the weather has been so mild the grass has grown and now needs to be mowed, or we will lose Sassy in the grass. She looks kind of grumpy in this picture but she is a very happy girl and probably getting tired from all the running she has been doing. In addition to getting to go outside, Sassy has been able to be introduced to some of the bigger dogs that live with us. Today Sassy was out in the grass yard with her mom, Poppy and her sire, Zeke. Sprouty was out in the yard too. I’ve been very impressed by how good the older dogs are with Sassy–Zeke is so tolerant and patient with her as she is hanging off his front leg or ear.
Buzz (at 5 1/2 months old) loves his toys and garbage can. When I decided to take a picture of him he was sleeping in the garbage can–but he always alert to what is going on around him so this the only picture I could get of him. Buzz is a very busy boy–and loves a good run and chase.
