On Monday, July 10 Tasheena and her “girls” had a good day. Kevlar was awarded Best of Winners and picked up a couple of points toward her AKC championship–just a few more points and Kevlar will be a finished champion. Liberty earned some points toward her Grand Championship by being awarded Best of Opposite Sex. Great day–lots of fun and many nice compliments on her dogs!!!
Although her head hair isn’t looking the best, Sassy was awarded Best Opposite Sex in the Puppy Sweeps. Sheri showed Sassy, since Sassy tends to show better for Sheri than she does for me. Thank you judge Robyn Orvos for the nice, encouraging words about Sassy. After her win in the Sweepstakes, Sassy went on to be awarded Winners Bitch for a 4 point major (her first major win). Thank you judge Joan Zielinski for this win. Sassy now has a total of 6 points (needs 15 points total) toward her AKC championship.
Cash (Absolutely Wagnes It’s Time To Pay The Piper) scores big at the Bichon Frise Club of Puget Sound Specialty Show, going Best of Winners for a 4 point major. With his fan club looking on, he became a new Champion. Good timing, Cash! And good work, Dina, and all who participated in Cash’s development.
Well, it was a pretty darn good day for our team.
Oliver won Best Puppy in Sweepstakes with Sassy going Best Opposite Puppy
In the regular specialty classes:
Oliver won his class, Reserve Winners and Best Puppy in Specialty
Sassy won her class going Winners for a 4 point major.
Simon was select dog adding to his Grand Champion points tally.
Also!….drumroll please………
Cash won Best of Winners for another 4 point major and
NEW CHAMPION!!
Dina and her support team (Dale Hunter & Cheryl Blair) had Cash looking great. Dina was on the lead and Cash showed like he knew the win was his. Thank you Dale & Cheryl for your unwavering support and knowledge. We all learn new things whenever we are around you both.
Later in the weekend Tasheena added 2 more points to Kevlars win record with a Best of Winners. That girl has hit her stride and will be a Champion in no time.
Kevlar also debuted in Obedience competition with a qualifying score giving her the first points of her title. Beauty and brains!
Kind of a late post about Kevlar at the Lynden (Bell Vernon Kennel Club) show in May. This is Kevlar with Tasheena being selected Best of Breed from the class entry over at least 3 Specials for a major win toward her championship. Excellent win!!! Congratulations!!!
What else are you supposed to do on a nice, warm, sunny day–go to the beach–or in this case the dog yard with a plastic tote full of water (it’s also an easy way to give them a bath!). Red girl loves the water–Blue girl got wet by “association” and wrestling. It will be interesting the next time they have a bath (in the laundry tub) to see if they still like water. Ah, the life of puppies!!!
Our gorgeous boy Monroe (Absolutely Agape With a Bullet) has made the move north to be with his new family, Melanie, Walt and his new sister Hannah. Monroe is so handsome that we were certain that he was destined for great things in the show ring. But that’s not what Monroe had in mind. He tried to tell us from the start that being a star was just not his thing. What he really wanted was to be a loving member of a nice family where breakfast in bed, playing, kicking back, chewing on chewys and going to the clubhouse was on the agenda for most days. We finally listened. Now Monroe and Hannah can trade going Best in Show and Best Opposite in their own back yard. Ahhhhh……the sweet life.
What a difference 2 years makes.
Blue girl at a day over 13 weeks–I thought they were 14 weeks, but it doesn’t matter–time goes by so quickly and the pups a growing up way to fast!Red girl (with her wild hair) is always looking for fun. Both pups play well together and with the nice weather I have been able to get them outside in the grass to play. We’ve started leash training and that is work in progress. With very warm temperatures forecast for Sunday I think perhaps a little water in a large plastic container out in the yard with the 2 pups might be fun (plus an easy way for them to get a bath).
Sassy earned her first 2 points at the Mt. Baker KC show in Lynden on May 22. Sassy was Best of Winners with Sheri showing her–and the judge, when handing out the ribbons, pointed out that Sassy showed better for Sheri than she did for her “mother” (me)–and it was true. It was fun for me to watch Sassy in the Best of Breed ring with Sheri on the lead–I was showing Poppy at the time. Looks like Sheri might have another dog to show!!
