Every puppy loves this little blue bed!
The little ones continue to grow and change. Their teeth are starting to come through. They are playing with each other and starting to notice their toys. Soon they will be introduced to softened food.
Green is the biggest of the boys–at the end of week 1 he weighs almost 1 pound–it is going to be fun to see how these little boys turn out–which pups ends up being the biggest.
The puppies are doing great. They just had their nails trimmed and since they were not wiggling too much, I trimmed some hair around their eyes. Looking at the pictures, I can see I missed some spots. Today they will move to a bigger “condo” so they can get more exercise. Eyes are open, ears are still opening, puppy growls (more like purrs) are beginning.
Sassy and Oliver would like to introduce you to the newest members of the Absolutely Bichons family. On Saturday, May 4, 2019 three little male pups were born. First born was the Blue boy (the smallest), next was Green boy (the biggest) and then Orange boy. Sassy and pups are doing well and Sassy is being the best mom (surprising me since this is her first litter). Today (Wednesday) was dew claw removal day at the vet’s office and all went well.
Oliver and I recently traveled to the Bichon Frise Club of America’s National Specialty near Orlando, FL. Karen and Sue were not able to attend. As you can see from the blogposts…puppies. But our friend Dina Taylor traveled with me. It’s amazing the gear that is required for one little white show dog. Dina helped me out with all of that and more, all the while maintaining an online presence with her employer Amazon. Dinas help was invaluable.
So Oliver won the Grand Champion Dog class in the Bred By Exhibitor Special Attraction judged by breeder judge Mayno Blanding. He also made the “cut” in the main event. Oliver received so much positive attendion from fellow breeders, exhibitors and other judges that we really felt like big winners.
Since we only see the vast majority of these people once a year, you never know how your young dogs will be received. Let’s just say that Oliver has many, many fans.
Here is our win photo. All other photos are by Dina, even the cool artisitic one in the hallway.
In other news: I have been elected to serve on the Board of Directors for our National Club. This is truly an honor.
Another HUGE honor is that I have been voted by the membership to judge the Bred By Exhibitor Special Attraction competition at Nationals, 2021 in Chicago. That is going to be really fun and a highlight in my bichon career.
I am really excited!!!
The puppies are two weeks old today. Their job for now is to eat and sleep. They do both very well! You’ll notice that their eyes are just starting to open.
