It is time to groom Junebug again.  I can’t say she enjoys the experience,

but she was better behaved than the last time she was groomed.

Junebug has had a growing spurt lately. She now weighs 4 lb. 12 oz. Her second set of puppy vaccinations will be given this week.

Today, Sunday, August 22, Tasheena showed Elijah (Absolutely Bringing a Higher Love) to his AKC Championship (pending AKC certifiction).  Tasheena and Elijah are a great team, allowing Elijah to complete his championship quickly (after all we took a whole year with no shows because of Covid).  Elijah is owned by Mark and Jan and his Bichon sister, Gracie (she thinks she owns him too).  Great job Tasheena!!!  Grand Champion in the future???

Pixie, with her favorite handler, Sherin, was Reserve Winner for the “girls” today.   Pixie shows best for Sherin and  is a wild girl when Tasheena (owner) tries to show her.  Actually Pixie thinks that the conformation shows are just way to slow and that instead of trotting around the ring and full out run is what is called for!!  Cute, crazy, fun little girl.

Day 3 of the Sammamish KC show was again great for the Absolutely Team.  Pictured below, Burrito with Sheri after winning Best of Breed and getting ready to go to group.  Also Shae (with Tasheena handling) won Winner’s Bitch and Best Opposite Sex.  Elijah (again with Tasheena on the lead) won Winner’s Dog and Best of Winners.   Long weekend with amazing results and lots of fun.

Sunday was a very good day for the Absolutely team at the Sammamish Kennel Club dog show in Enumclaw.  Elijah was Best of Breed from the classes over 2 specials, Shae was Winner’s Bitch and Best of Opposite Sex–both pictured above with their ribbons.  Burrito was awarded Select dog for another point towards his Grand Championship.  Elijah went on to the Non-Sporting Group for his first Group experience.  Elijah, handled by Tasheena, showed very well–but no placement–maybe next time–and there will be a next time!

Junebug is much better behaved this week.   Being nine weeks old must be like the “terrible twos.”

We typically do our puppy evaluation at 10 weeks old.  Structure and movement are checked to determine if the puppy seems like a good candidate for the conformation show ring.  Attitude plays a big part, too.  Junebug has the attitude part down pat, and I’m happy to say she made a good  showing in the other areas as well.

The leash training has paid off! This is the first time Junebug walked outside on the driveway.  If she could talk, she’d say, “Hey, I’ve got this!!”

Junebug has had some issues this week.  She has been disciplined a couple of times by the older dogs….once because she bit her father, once because she got in Gloria’s face and barked and barked at her.  The girl hasn’t any siblings to teach her manners, so she is learning (hopefully) some doggy etiquette.

Today she got in trouble with me during a brushing session.  She threw a little temper tantrum.  She has to learn that behavior is NOT allowed.

In spite of disciplinary issues this week, we love the little girl to bits.  She has brought a lot of fun and laughter to the family.

In four days, Junebug will be evaluated to see if she will be a good show dog. She and I are practicing her leash work so we can get a good idea of her movement. Attitude? She has plenty. Saturday’s evaluation will be for structure.

The puppies have “crashed” after having a visitor today.  With Covid there just aren’t as many visitors to see the pups, but today Dina came and the puppies had a new person to meet.  The puppies got tired out and took a nap. (Female on the left, male on the right)

The puppies will be 5 weeks old on Sunday (August 1) and over the last 2 weeks there have been many changes (I actually have pictures from when they turned 4 weeks, but had lots of difficulty posting to the blog page, so in frustration I gave up!).Above is the female–eyes wide open, hearing, playing with her littermate and toys and being a puppy.  Hair is growing rapidly (there might be a bath and haircut in the near future) and she has a few teeth starting to show up (the reason for the little bit of staining under her eyes)Above is the male and favorite “play toy” of the female.   The 2 pups wrestle often and play with their toys.  Both pups have started on puppy mousse and soon mashed up kibble.  This little guy is just starting to “cut” teeth.   Both pups are very close in weight–some days one weighs more than the other, but that can change the next day.  Over the last 2 weeks the pups personalities are starting to show–you can really spend a lot of time watching these 2 and not get much done–but it’s worth it!!!
