It has been about 2 1/2 weeks since Belle (aka Red girl) flew to Arizona with Jerry to start her new life and big adventure. Belle has settled in nicely and is enjoying her new home and family. Pictured: Jerry holding Great Aunt Rose and Troy holding Belle–and yes, notice the blue sky, sunshine, shorts and probably warm weather–sigh!! Oh, well according to the weatherman spring will visit the Pacific Northwest this coming weekend.

Belle started a BIG adventure on Wednesday, March 3, going to her new forever home with Jerry. Jerry, who lives in Arizona, came to meet Belle and play with her on Tuesday before leaving to fly back home on Wednesday. Wednesday was a very long day for Belle with lots of new experiences–a long ride to the airport, flying for about 3 hours, and meeting her new family–Troy and Great Auntie Rose. All went well and Belle proved to be a good traveler–loved her new family and had a wonderful time playing with her Great Aunt Rose (littermate to Poppy–7+ years old). Today the adventure continues!

On Saturday, February 27, two of the little girls went to their new homes and started a new adventure.

Green girl went home with Doug and Tasheena to start her new adventure. She will be living with another young Bichon, Pixie (from Sue’s litter), Kevlar (an adult Bichon–5 years old), and Jake (a much bigger dog, very gentle older guy).
Blue girl went home with Jan and Mark and her older brother, Elijah (Bichon about 20 months old).

From the reports after the first night in their new homes everyone survived and actually got some sleep. Today more new adventures and exploring their new surroundings. Red girl is still here and will go to her new home on Wednesday–some adventures planned for her today too. Red girl is missing her littermates, but she is being very good.

Burrito, the Abominable Snow Dog, loves the snow and likes to plow through the white stuff with his nose. Unfortunately the Bichon Frise breed does not shed the snow from their coats, instead snowballs form and when the fun playing in the snow is over it’s time to get dried off. The snow is pretty and fun, but it is time for it to be gone!

More up to date picture of the 3 little “girls” taken on Friday, February 5, 2021. Red girl top left, Green girl next to her, and Blue girl closest to the bottom of the picture–all sweet, crazy puppies. On Sunday the pups got their first trip outside on a show lead and did so well–nothing bothered them, they just went outside and walked on the leash (loved the string cheese treat). They also got to walk in the grass–another new surface for them.

These pictures of the pups were taken about 2 weeks ago–sometimes it is just difficult to find the time to post pictures and sometimes I just procrastinate.

Red girl on her spa day, bath, haircut, nails–looking like a little Bichon. Red girl was the smallest when born, she has now caught up with her littermates and is actually the heaviest at 2.96 pounds–she loves her food.
Green girl looking very cute in her “big girl” haircut. Green weighs 2.7 pounds and weighs the least of the 3 pups.
Blue girl is the “energizer bunny” of the 3 girls, always looking for something to do and trouble to get into. Blue weighs in at 2.76 pounds. All the weights on the pups were taken at the vet’s office this last week when they went for their first puppy shots and check-up. Each pups was declared “healthy puppy” by the vet.

The puppies have continued to grow and change rapidly–growing up way to fast. The wrestling matches continue, all 3 pups are getting around much faster, puppy food and collars have been introduced and those little dagger sharp teeth are coming in. The puppy now have enough coat that they are in need of their first haircut–coming up this weekend.

Red Girl 4+ weeks old

Red girl 5 weeks old has now caught up and passed the Green girl weighing slightly more than Green–Red really likes the puppy food.

Green girl at 4. 1/2 weeks

Green girl at 5 weeks, has grown a lot of coat and you can see her eye pigment has come in.

Blue girl 4 1/2 weeks

Blue girl at 5 weeks–another hairy pup. If any pup is going to get into trouble or be the first to try something, it’s Blue.

Over the last 2 weeks the pups have had several visitors and love people. We continue to introduce new things (toys, noises, visitors, etc.) to the pups. Wrestling and playing continue to be a big part of their awake time–and they rotate being on the bottom of the wrestling match–giving as good as they get. The pup’s personalities are emerging and it is so fun to watch them develop.

The little girls are changing so quickly now it is hard to keep up with what they are up to. They are going to need more room to walk (totter) around and play, so it’s going to be time for me to be creative and see what I can come up with. The pups are now starting to play with toys and each other–the wrestling matches have begun and it is usually 2 on 1 with the 1 on the bottom of the pile rotating among the girls. Their eyes are open (although Red girl is a little slower to fully open–I think she need sun glasses, she doesn’t like the glare) and they are hearing. Sassy still continues to be an excellent mom, but also enjoys some time away from the pups to play ball.

Red girl squinting into the light. She is growing and gaining weight daily, her goal is to catch up with her littermates.

Green girl remains the second largest at this point, but she is only an ounce or so behind her bigger littermate–Blue.

Blue girl is just not a photogenic pup–she is getting prettier and prettier all the time and remains the largest of the girls–one of these days we will get a really nice picture of her!! Blue is also the pup that has changed the most. It is so fun to watch these pups grow (and they grow so fast!), this next week will bring even more changes and my thoughts are turning to starting them on puppy food (other than mom).

The little girl puppies are 2 weeks old and things are beginning to change–and the changes will come faster and faster as the weeks go by. This week their eyes are more open–they are pulling themselves up on their legs and moving around more. Small toys will be introduced soon and there will be some interaction among the pups.

Red girl (above) is either sleepy or her eyes aren’t fully open, but she is steadily gaining weight–trying to catch up with her sisters.

Green girl’s eyes are more open now and she can be really fast to move around the crate. At this time I think Green is the most mellow and easiest to work with–I’m sure that will change (unfortunately).
Blue girl is still the largest (weighing in at a little over 1 pound)–none of these pups are big so it is going to be interesting to see how they turn out. Green’s eyes aren’t fully open and she has strong opinions about what she likes and doesn’t like–and when trimming their nails she was quick to voice her displeasure.
