When I mentioned 5 dogs rush out the door, Orange is often a bit reluctant. He seems to think he is an inside dog. Once he is out the door, he has a great time playing.

With 7 puppies, nothing goes quickly.  Just trying to walk down the hall is a challenge not to step on any puppy, kick any puppy, not to trip over your own shoelaces.

With all that, my daughter and I agree that these are some of the nicest puppies we have had.  I hear very little whining, and hardly ever hear a bark.  I tell them “outside” and that usually gets at least 5 out the door.  When they have played for a while, I say “get in your bed” and they (almost) always come to the gate to their pen, or jump over and in.

Today was bath day as tomorrow is the day to visit the vet.  The puppies will have their health check up and receive their first set of puppy vaccinations.

Blue likes to climb up two steps. That’s all he is allowed. He continues to be the largest of the puppies.

Turquoise (Green) boy wasn’t feeling too well today.  After a nice nap he ate a little lunch and seems to be back to his energetic self.

Brown boy looks very handsome after his bath. He’s another affectionate and easy going boy.

Pink girl will be staying with me. I’m hoping she will be a show girl. She certainly has the attitude.

Black has a nice coat and a nice temperament.

Lucky #7 is very sweet. He walks with his head held high, as if to show how proud he is.

The litter of 7 is 7 weeks old today.  They had another bath (with all the wrestling and rolling around, they needed it).  Leash training has begun.  We are introducing it in small increments.  They aren’t excited about treats yet, so we are trying squeakers or other toys to entice them to move.  I think we’re off to a promising start.  It seemed to take the afternoon to get a decent picture of everyone.  Finally I brought out the fluffy bed and that helped.

Blue is the first and only puppy to have learned to climb up a step. He often does things before his siblings

I think Orange’s favorite activity is untying my double-knotted shoe laces. Or he just grabs on and lets me drag him down the hallway. This morning I found I made faster progress if I picked him up!

Brown boy gets the prize for the most tail wags. It’s pretty constant.

Turquoise, whose color actually looks more like green, had visitors last Friday. He loved the company and the attention.

Pink looks like a little angel, but she is anything but. She is always in the thick of things, often being the instigator.

Can you say handsome? I love Black’s face. It won’t be long until he can climb out of this box that his mother uses to access their pen.

Some people get better looking with age. i think Lucky #7 is doing the same. He is an all around nice boy.

Seven hungry puppies anxiously waiting for their breakfast.

Six weeks have gone quickly.  Every week sees new growth physically and mentally in the babies.  Experiences that added to their development this week have been the baths, dryer and trimming.  They are also enjoying jumping out of their pen and running around the kitchen.  Even though the weather has been cold they like a brief time outside – especially when Mommy is out with them.

Blue boy is still the largest puppy. He is often the first to try new things.

Orange boy is quite a people person. However, he wasn’t interested in having his picture taken.

By the time Brown boy had his turn, he was only interested in napping. I took this picture while he was lying in his bed.

Turquoise boy is often the first to run to meet people. He can be quite humorous.

Pink girl has to be tough, living with 6 brothers. She can have quite a temper!

Black is an all around nice puppy – handsome and good-natured.

Lucky #7 is getting cuter with age. He is the favorite of my daughter and my sister-in-law.

The puppies are getting used to new (and sometimes irritating things)  Collars were introduced this week to get them used to having something around their neck.  Protests ranged from mild to loud!  I have begun brushing them…not a problem.  I am also rubbing their feet, hoping to desensitize the foot sensitivity we sometimes see in Bichons.  This Saturday they will get to try more new things as friends are coming to help me bathe, dry and trim.

Blue is posing on the wobble disk.

Orange is sitting pretty for his picture.

Turquoise is one of the more active males. His antics are very entertaining.

It was difficult getting Brown to be still for his picture. He usually jumped for the camera.

Yeah! Black is sitting still for his photo shoot!

Lucky #7 had his picture made in his favorite blue bed.

Pink was sleeping. She’d like to get back to her nap, if only her brothers and the photographer would leave her alone!

This week I see the puppies becoming more attuned to the human world.  They had some visitors and responded well to them.  Their personalities are developing and it’s fun to observe which pup is the first to try something new, which pup is a clown, which pup may seem timid.  The interesting thing is that what one pup displays this week can change completely by next week.  They have moved into the main part of the house, in a much larger area and around the other Bichons.

Lucky #7 – perhaps a bit slower to try new things than some of the others.

Nice face, Mr. Black!

Pink. She is still the smallest but she knows how to wrestle with the big boys.

Turquoise was Mr. Personality today. He kept us laughing.

Not the greatest picture of Mr. Brown. Blame the photographer!

Cutie! This is Orange.

Blue is the largest and the only puppy to pass the 2 lb. mark.

Lucky #7, our last born did not make it onto the three week old blog.  So he gets a blog all to himself.

This is Lucky #7. We were only expecting 6 puppies, so when #7 was born 1 1/2 hrs. later, he was a big surprise.

The puppies are three weeks old today.  Their eyes are open and they can hear.  I purposely slam drawers, turn on my hair dryer and make other noises so they won’t be startled by other sounds.  They are interacting with each other and with their toys.

Mr. Blue is one of our largest puppies. There is a rail in their puppy box and he likes to rest his head on it. He is quite mobile.

Mr. Orange is the smallest male at this time. I love his face.

This is Mr. Brown. He is another good size boy. Some hair is blocking one of his eyes. I can see I’ll have to do some trimming soon.

I like to snuggle with the Turquoise boy.

Mr. Black is one of my favorites. Well, truthfully, they are all my favorites. He is a special boy.

Finally, the one little girl. Isn’t she cute??

We have puppies!  Lots of puppies.  Gloria delivered SEVEN beautiful puppies on January 4.  That makes them two weeks old today.  In the pictures you will notice that some have eyes open, some eyes are barely open, some eyes are still closed.  They develop differently.  By next week the eyes should all be open and we hope the noses are all black.  Did I mention that out of the seven there is only one girl?

The first three pictures are our big boys:  all over 1 lb.

Blue Boy, handsome dude.

Brown Boy whose eyes are the most open.

Brown boy – his eyes are open the widest.

Mr. Black. He just wanted to sleep.

Mr. Black. He just wanted to sleep.

Orange boy is not as mature as his heavier brothers.

Turquoise boy. He holds his own among his siblings.

Clear boy. We call him Lucky #7, as he was the last born. He gave me some little puppy growls today.

Miss Pink, not really sticking out her tongue. She was hoping for some food from Mom.

Favor has found a wonderful new home. She’ll be living near her Great Grandmother, her Great Aunt and her Sister. I foresee fun times ahead.
