Aside from our local Specialty, the Wenatchee Kennel Club is the only club in the area that gives actual trophies for a Best of Breed win.  Zeke took home the apple on Saturday, Sunday it went to his brother Simon….along with a Group 3 ribbon to boot!  An “Absolutely” wonderful weekend!!

Thank you Wenatchee KC for your long standing tradition and to our judges.

Our boy brought home quite a booty of ribbons from the Island Circuit.  But no rest for the wicked.  Next weekend we are up in Castlegar BC for six more shows chasing the elusive BIS.

Simon spent three days with Team Gignac over the weekend in Nanaimo and won the Non-Sporting Group all three days!! Simon was the only dog at the show to be in the Best in Show ring each day. Alas, no big ribbon this time….but he is getting sooooo close!!Pat Gignac & Simon in the BIS Ring

After a couple hard knocks in the breed ring on previous days, Simon managed a Best of Breed win on Sunday and went onto a Group 2 under Judge Seamus Oates.  Thank you everyone in the local Bichon community for all their support on that day.   It was certainly heart warming.

Simon just wrapped up 4 shows at Vancouver Island. He was honored with 2 Group 1’s, a Group 3 and a Group 4! Now THAT is a good dog show weekend! Thank you to Team Gignac for all their help and support.

Simon has gone Best of Breed in the past 3 locals shows along with a group 4 placement compliments of judge Darryl Vice. These wins gave him enough points to become the first Bronze level Grand Champion bichon in the Northwest.

At Nationals, Simon placed 3rd in his Champion Dog Bred By Exhibitor class behind some very successful professionals. In Best of Breed he made “the cut”. Not bad for some unknowns from the Great Northwest.

We are so excited about Pipers major win last weekend. Her older half brother Simon won the breed at the same show. Simon is bearing down on his Bronze level Grand Championship. Almost there!!

Simon and Brother Zeke are now traveling to Chicago for Nationals. Karen, Sue and I will meet up with them on Thursday. It should be a fun bichon intense weekend. Hopefully we will have some photos and good news to share upon our return.

So, we have a blog! Now all we need to do is learn how to use it. We are hoping to have some wonderful news to share with anyone interested (well, wonderful to us anyway). Nationals is fast approaching and we are looking forward to our trip to Chicago in May. Check back very soon.
