A very HOT weekend in Mt. Vernon. Our Bichons are not used to that. Neither are us handlers for that matter! None the less, Simon was awarded Best of Breed on Sunday and went onto a Group 2 placement under Judge Walter Pinsker. The judge commented that Simon is an excellent example of the breed. Thank you Judge Pinsker. We have to agree!
Simon received the Select Dog award at the Bichon Frise Club of Puget Sound on June 7th. Won Best of Breed and a Group 2 the following day. Select Dog again on the final day of competition. We had a beautiful turn out for the Specialty and a very nice line up in the final ring. Only 1 ultimate winner, but we all looked good trying! Thank you to Judges Wanda Spediacci and Carolyn Herbel.
In May, Karen, Sue and I traveled to Indianapolis, Indiana for The Bichon Frise Club of America’s National Specialty. This is an event we look forward to each year. All the top bichons in the country gather to compete. It is an especially important event for us in the Northwest since its the only opportunity for anyone other than our neighbors to see our fine dogs. At no time in the year will we face stiffer competition than at nationals. Going in we just hoped for our dogs to finish high in the ribbons in their respective classes and for them to get some attention. I’d say…mission accomplished.
Benny and Sydney were entered in Puppy Sweepstakes. Simon was entered in Bred By Exhibitor – Special Attraction and Best of Breed. Benny finished 3rd in his Sweep class and Sydney finished 2nd in hers. Both puppies showed extremely well and we are excited about their promising future in the ring Simon finished 1st in his Champion Dog Bred by Exhibitor class…then went back in to win Best Bred by Exhibitor. Wow!! Thank you judge Dale Hunter from Victoria, BC.

It’s unofficially official. SIMON has captured the title of top Bichon Frise in Canada for 2012. With only one more show left in the country until year end, we are fairly confident in making this announcement.
Simon finished off a weekend of shows at Chilliwack today. Group 2 both Friday and Saturday and a Group 1 one Sunday!! I (Sheri) was there to take him into the BIS ring and it was such a nice way to finish off the year.
It’s been a very exciting year for Karen, Sue and I. Simon will take a little break for the Holidays, then he will be back in the ring in the States for 2013.
A heartfelt thanks to Cheryl Blair and Dale Hunter for your unwavering support of Simon through out the year. We hope Simon has made his Daddy Chip very proud!
A HUGE THANK YOU to David and Pat Gignac and their team for your care and handling of Simon this year. We could not have done it with without your help.
Dont’cha just love it when a plan comes together? Bring on 2013! Simon is ready!!
Our friend Kippen Westfall came to see us at the Whidbey Island show in Monroe. She brought along two of our favorite Bichons. Karen is holding Toby, Sue has Libby. Zeke is with me (Sheri) as he was entered in the show. While we didnt get any ribbons that weekend, it was sure nice to see a couple of dogs that mean so much to us. Thank you Kipp for bringing Toby and Libby for a visit!!
