Anyone who has tried to take a picture of a puppy knows how difficult it is. Today we attempted a picture with all FIVE. The first picture will demonstrate some of our attempts. Picture #2 is not great, but at least you can see all the faces.
The little girl puppies are 2 weeks old and things are beginning to change–and the changes will come faster and faster as the weeks go by. This week their eyes are more open–they are pulling themselves up on their legs and moving around more. Small toys will be introduced soon and there will be some interaction among the pups.
Red girl (above) is either sleepy or her eyes aren’t fully open, but she is steadily gaining weight–trying to catch up with her sisters.
Rest and sleep time is getting shorter and shorter. Once in a while they will all snuggle together and have a nap. All five were asleep until I showed up to take a picture.
Next on the agenda was some play time. The pups tore around the kitchen island. They chase, they wrestle, they grab each other by the tail or the leg or the ear. If I open a cabinet, inside they go. Orange girl and pink girl enjoyed climbing in and out. Looking at the sweet face of Orange girl, you’d never guess she’d been up to mischief!
The Sassy–Oliver girls are 10 days old and it has been a challenge getting pictures of them. First the pups don’t want to hold still and then the pictures that we did take, the files were larger than the blog could handle. Today Sue came with her phone and we were able to get picture of each pup.
Above is Red girl–she is the smallest, but she is making big gains hoping to catch up with her sisters.
This is Green girl, who also made a good size weight gain overnight. The pups are growing rapidly–Sassy is being an excellent mom.
Blue girl is the biggest of the 3 pups and this is the probably the best picture we’ve taken of her. All 3 girls were more cooperative today and hopefully that will improve over the next weeks–taking pictures of squirmy babies is not easy! Thank you Sue for the help!
I visited Karen’s 9 day old puppies today. What a difference between 9 days and 9 weeks!! They learn so much and grow so much in a short period of time. It’s pretty amazing. This week we practiced more of the same. But they have also enjoyed some outdoor time. The wind was strong today, but that just meant they might be lucky enough to find a leaf. I noticed that the puppies are displaying more independence this week. If they were children, I would say they are testing the boundaries.
Chandler and Wilson love to sit on top of the sofa.
Sassy and Oliver would like to introduce the latest puppies, born Wednesday, December 9, 2020. Three little girls. Have to get this posted as tomorrow is their 1 week birthday and will be posting new pictures.
This picture was taken shortly after the last little girl (Blue girl) was born at 11:40 p.m.
The pups went to the vet yesterday for their first puppy shots and their physical exam. It is quite extensive, checking general appearance, eyes, ears, teeth and occlusion, heart, lungs, abdomen, musculoskeletal, skin, lymph nodes, urogenital, nervous system, patella exam. All the puppies are normal in all areas. My vet said they are a healthy bunch. I asked how they did and he said it was typical. “The boys were pansies. The girls were tough.”
It seems like more of everything this week: more food, more play time, more time running through the house, more grooming (more complaining). There have been some new experiences. The pups are spending one on one time with me, I have begun leash training. So far, none of them has freaked out. Today they had their first car ride. They handled that quite well also.
Seven weeks old today:
