Benny (Absolutely Affinity A Bientot) – New Champion

Benny in the Ring at LMDF showBenny (the 5th Bichon from the left side of the picture) is now a Canadian Champion. On Thursday of the Lower Mainland dog show Benny was Best of Winners for 2 pts.–on Friday and Saturday he was again Best of Winners for 2 pts. each day (under judges Eugene Blake, Mario Magsaysay, & Dennis McCoy)–so adding the points to the points he earned at the Fraser Valley show a couple of weeks ago, Benny has 10 points and that gives him his Championship. He has finished quickly–at just over 1 year old. Sydney was in the show too–and went Reserve Winner each day. Both the pups looked very nice and showed well (Sydney can be a little “wild” in the show ring–but at least she is having a good time!). It was an amazing 4 day show — with Benny getting his Championship and Simon going Best in Show on Saturday–we are still all “flying high” and probably won’t come back to earth for a good long time with a win like that!!!! Thank you to all the other Bichon exhibitors for all their support–we had so much fun!! Best show ever. (picture taken by Cherie Ekholm)

Simon – BEST IN SHOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What a fabulous weekend for www.AbsolutelyBichons.com and team Simon. After winning a Grp 3 on Thursday, Grp 2 on Friday, Grp 1 and Best In Show on Saturday, Simon wrapped things up with another Grp 2 today. These wins also gave him the title of Grand Champion and garnered him the placement of Number 1 Bichon in Canada for 2013. Thank you so much to our fellow bichon exhibitors for your support and enthusiasm. You really have no idea how special that is to us. AB Handler Heidi Gervais was kind enough to send this shot of the BIS ring when Simon was awarded his ribbon. You can barely see his little nose peeking out there. The photo I will entitle “Simon en Repose” was taken about an hour after we got home. I think he is grinning just a little bit.

The largest dog show in Canada, the Lower Mainland Dog Fanciers (formerly known as TradeX) is still my favorite show of the year. And probably will be forever now!

Poppy and Her Buddies

IMG_0433Poppy (aka Blue girl and Tui) is out playing with the other Bichons that live here–she loves the other dogs!!! Sprout tolerates her, Rosie puts Poppy in her place (disciplines her), Benny tries to ignore her, but Zeke and Sydney play with her. I’m not sure Zeke and Sydney will have much of a show coat after Poppy is through wrestling with them–but so far I haven’t seen any damage–and after all–a girls just gotta have fun!! (Poppy has been renamed–nobody liked the name Tui and the name Poppy really seems to fit her.)

Mikey and His New Best Friend

Taking a break Gidget and MikeyMikey(aka Purple boy) and Gidget are taking a break from playing. When Mikey first met Gidget he just wasn’t very sure about her and growled at her–now Sylvia tells me they are best friends and play and play and play. Sylvia and Mikey are also going to puppy kindergarten and Sylvia states that Mikey is enjoying the class and meeting other dogs. So glad to hear that the two Bichons are having fun and enjoying each other!!!

It’s so nice to hear about the puppies who have gone to their new homes.  The report on Zoe is that she’s so smart, doing well with her potty training and is the sweetest dog ever!

Mikey (aka Purple Boy)

IMG_0428Mikey has gone to live with Sylvia and her husband and Gidget (2 1/2 yr. old Bichon). Gidget and Mikey got off to a bit of a bumpy start, but their relationship has continued to improve. Sylvia is busy socializing Mikey with trips to various places, working on leash training and name recognition–and also puppy kindergarden.

IMG_0427Remy now lives is Surrey, BC with Chris, Marnie, Gwyneth, and Keira. Remy is a cuddly little guy who will give his new family lots of love and attention.
