Simon just wrapped up 4 shows at Vancouver Island. He was honored with 2 Group 1’s, a Group 3 and a Group 4! Now THAT is a good dog show weekend! Thank you to Team Gignac for all their help and support.

Simon has gone Best of Breed in the past 3 locals shows along with a group 4 placement compliments of judge Darryl Vice. These wins gave him enough points to become the first Bronze level Grand Champion bichon in the Northwest.
At Nationals, Simon placed 3rd in his Champion Dog Bred By Exhibitor class behind some very successful professionals. In Best of Breed he made “the cut”. Not bad for some unknowns from the Great Northwest.
On Sat. May 19, 2012, Rosie (CH Kenningway Affinity Wild Rose) went Winner’s Bitch for a four point major in Lynden, WA. This completed her championship with all major wins. Thank you Judge Mrs. Charlotte Patterson.
The following day Judge Mr. Darryl Vice awarded her Best Opposite Sex for four points toward her Grand Championship.
Rosie was expertly handled by David Gignac.
Zeke (CH Affinity Agape Absolute Bite the Bullet) had a great time at Nationals! He sensed that the crowd was getting restless and decided to entertain them. He chatted up the dog in front of him. When that dog didn’t respond, Zeke turned to the one behind him. Still no response from that dog, so he “patty-caked” to the crowd. He did some spins, a few twists and turns, begged for treats.
Well, the Bichon standard does say “A cheerful attitude is the hallmark of the breed.”
Zeke, Simon and Piper would like to offer huge congratulations to their Dad, Chip (GCH Craigdale Chip Off The Rock) for winning the Stud Dog class at the Bichon Frise Specialty Show in Chicago.
To quote Richard Beauchamp, “A stud dog is a dog who, by merit of his genetic prepotency, has proven he is able to sire offspring whose quality alters the course of the breed in a positive manner.” Simon and Zeke were honored to follow their Dad into the ring to demonstrate the type and quality Chip has produced.
We are so excited about Pipers major win last weekend. Her older half brother Simon won the breed at the same show. Simon is bearing down on his Bronze level Grand Championship. Almost there!!
Simon and Brother Zeke are now traveling to Chicago for Nationals. Karen, Sue and I will meet up with them on Thursday. It should be a fun bichon intense weekend. Hopefully we will have some photos and good news to share upon our return.
“Piper” (Shyladawn Agape Triple Threat) was awarded Winner’s Bitch at the Olympia Dog Fanciers show on May 5, in Elma Washington. That’s a 3 point major and she is very happy. It’s steak for her tonight!!
